Links	Tool functionalities General outline The general schema for the developed IT-tool is shown in the figure below. Step (1) has been developed reusing results from the European project AMI-SME (see www.ami-sme.org), while all functionalities related to steps (2) and (3) have been implemented from scratch. Step (4) of the methodology is about the final evaluation of the conceptual designs for innovative products, and is therefore a typical internal activity of producing SMEs; our prototype, however, provides some basic support in the evaluation of the options provided, and also provides documentation about the decisions taken during the consultancy process. Implementation The IT-tool prototype software has been developed on top of Java 1.6 technology, and the current system implementation makes use of MySQL 5.0 as database server. The system has been developed as a modular framework support the innovation process defined by our project's methodology. This design allows the development of new modules for seamless integration with third-party systems and for the improvement of supported functionalities. The following figure shows a high level overview of the system architecture.
